I've tried to stay unpolitical the last couple of weeks but thew news out of Pakistan is just too much to not say something. So we bombed an outpost and accidentally killed 24 soldiers. Do you know how many of our own troops we've bombed of the last couple of years? A lot more than 24.
Most importantly, our troops were taking fire from either rebels, being harbored by Pakistan, or by Pakistani troops. So the special forces involved called in air strikes and the shooting stopped. In a striking development, the Pakistani government acknowledged today that they authorized the attack on their own troops and then announced that Pakistani troops have the right to shoot at NATO forces in the future. Yeah, that's some really sound policy.
It's time that we acknowledge, bigger than just realize, that these people are not our friends, allies or even that terrible neighbor that you dislike. They've harbored Al Queda, Taliban and most importantly, Bin Laden. They do not like us and we should stop sending them money (billions) or even acknowledging their existance. Yeah, I understand their importance to the region and the supply likes into Afghanistan, but why don't we re look at that whole area and start funnelling money to our friends to the East of Paksitan. Last I looked (and so says the US census), there are a lot more people of Indian descent in the US than Pakistani. Plus, Curry is awesome and I couldn't even name a Pakistani food.
