Happy Halloween

Ahh, Halloween. One of my favorite holidays but unfortunately, I'm stuck at home watching the Great Pumpkin and a few other scary things on TV. The super boot isn't exactly helpful to trick or treating or really any costume ... unless I decide to go as in injury prone 30 something.

In other news, I've been pretty bad about updating the blog.  I've been swamped with work and other fun life activities but hopefully, I'm going to put all responsible things on hold and get back to blogging and other non-essential fun activities. I'm not really sure what those are yet, but since I can't train / run, I thought I'd get back to other lazy activities like attending drinking sessions on weekends and watching endless hours of football. If I'm forced to wear a cast and rest, might as well do it in style.

So Happy Halloween ... enjoy trick / treating and wearing really amazing things that you can only wear one day a year.

Here's the guy that shot Gadaffi

I honestly couldn't care less, but I thought it was an interesting video. Here is the guy that killed Gaddafi and is about to kill someone else. I guess they don't teach gun safety to anyone in the Middle East. Yeah, sure, put your finger on the trigger and wave a loaded gun around at other people's heads.  Its a good move ... nothing ever goes bad when you do that.

Super Boot!

I'm pretty sure I might stop training for these 1/2 marathons ... no, not because they are tiring because I always get some sort of injury. For instance, Monday night I went for a nice 4 mile job. Around mile 3, I heard a pop and then my ankle rolled up on me. Fortunately, I was able to slowly jog home and then ice down. After a cramp and some uncomfortable hours of ice, I realize that this might be something more serious than a strain.

Well, the doctor confirmed and I tore part of my calf muscle. Woo hoo.  My reward for the injury, 4 -6 weeks in robo boot. A really awesome looking black cast that weight about twenty pounds and is about as much fun as a dodging celebratory bullets in Tripoli.

Here's a fun lil pick of robo boot:

Debate #3 Highlights

Here's what I learned after last's night's debate:
  • The debate wasn't the best and reminded me a lot of an argument amongst teenagers ... aside from the Biggest Loser, there was nothing else on TV so I forced my self to watch part of it.
  • Newt, shocker, made the best point all night - he suggested that there be a real debate with Obama without a moderator. You could put Elmo in that debate and its a think that's a home run b/c POTUS can't even do a press conference and answer questions. He makes my old friend Gibby seem well spoken and poised. Speaking of which, let's figure out a way to get Gibby in the race. That would make it even more fun!
  • I'm convinced CNN is backing these debates as an attempt to destroy the image of the Republican Party because each week, they pick on someone and try and break them down.  This week ... Herman Cain! I really don't have an opinion of the Godfather, but they sure twisted his words around last night.  Anderson was heaving up softballs for the other candidates to hit at Herman.
  • Romney tried to look tough but he really looked like a lil bitch ... yeah, I said it. Part of me was hoping that Perry was going to hit him when Romney put his hand on his back.  A fight would have made it so much cooler and entertaining.
  • Apparently, Ron Paul and Michelle Bauchmann were there, but I changed the channel a good bit and missed what they had to say. I do know that Michelle's outfit was very late 80's and looked as if she had a ship to catch.
  • Rick Santorum just needs to bow out ... I'm afraid if he became president, I'd go deaf from listening to his constant ramblings about nothing. He tried to make some historical comment about Iran and Regan that prompted me to change the channel to the Biggest Loser.
  • The red team on the Biggest Loser is a bunch of sissies ...I think its great the Hawaiian fellow has lost a lot of weight, but he needs to stop whining so much.
  • What if they put Chris Christie on the Biggest Loser?  Maybe he could run for president afterwards.
  • Finally -- the candidates discussed immigration and the Mexico boarder and the ideas were all over the place. I'm curious that no one brought up just invading Mexico for grins. But completely not seriously, I never thought I'd say it, but I think the double wall idea is great. And by great, I mean awful.  Google Maginot line ... it worked so well in France in 1940.
  • And whenever I watch these debate,s I'm reminded of a scene in the movie Armageddon when Afleck, Willis and crew are working towards the space shuttle (FFWD to the end of the video clip below). The NASA pilot, and all world extra William Fichtner, says, "Talk about the wrong stuff".
I was hoping the debates were ending, but alas, there are 3 more next month.  I wonder if there is a way I could get into one of the debates. I'd wear a hat, Arafat's pistol and pick fights with everyone. Course, I'd also ask Michelle what she was like when she was 21 ... I'm betting crazy.

Hmm, what to get a 9-year old for Christmas?

How about a really awesome red van with a white racing stripe?

This might be the greatest news story in a while. Dad gets drunk, calls his 9 year old daughter to drive him home. Awesome ... oh and don't forget he stops at the gas station to pick up a candy apple and some cigs.

If there is a Darwin Award for Father of the Year, this guy wins in a landslide. And not because he had a 9 year old drive him around, because he actually owns a red van with custom wheels and a white stripe.

I bet they were fighting over Transformers 4

Yeah, I'm supposed to be an adult

... and not play video games, but if you think that, then you are wrong. I am an adult and I view video games as a nice daily therapy from the grind. The good news, my latest dose of therapy arrives on November 8, 2011 and it looks ridiculous.  Go ahead, make fun ... I don't care. At least my habit only costs $50.

Why, Obama, Why?

Go ahead and put this on the top of the "that's a really horrible ideas list" ... didn't the anointed one make some comment that we aren't the "world's policemen" a few weeks back? Well, screw that comment. Let's send some special forces to the middle of Africa!

Are Obama's advisers doing anything or are they just pulling answers out of a hat? Normally, I'm all for blowing shit up, but this is just a bad, bad, bad idea. If we are going to intervene somewhere, why aren't we paying attention to our neighbors to the South who are pretty much run by the drug cartels.

What a disaster ...

Good call, Fry

In the words of Captain Fry, "I have found your most anticipated movie of 2012." After watching the trailer, I'm not going to argue -- of course, I might change my mind with The Avengers or if they actually do a remake of Red Dawn.

Act of Valor -- pretty unknown cast, but hopefully the SFX make up for it and its an amazing movie. I'm optimistic and sure hope it doesn't end up being a disappointment like Iron Eagle 4, Delta Force 3 or Navy Seals.

Post / Image of the day

Thanks, JoEllen ... I wish I could share this with the World.

Seriously, don't mess with "Random Task"

Remember Austin Powers? Remember Dr. Evil's thug knock off of Odd Job, Random Task? Well, appears that this guy really is a thug ... hard core, stay away from at all costs type of thug.

In fact, he recently killed (well, supposedly but judging by his priors, I'm saying he did it) his cell mate by beating him to death. If that's not bad enough, he was in prison for felony vandalism and a felony conviction of gang rape. Pretty sure they need to no longer talk about this guy and put him under the jail.

Happy Birthday

Big Birthday Weekend ... in honor of both, some fun images! Happy Birthday Dr. Noisewater and Retired Sorority Girl.

Why does the media know about this?

US military: Concern but no panic over drone virus
Flights of the remotely piloted armed aircraft continue worldwide

WASHINGTON — There is concern but "nobody's panicked" over a virus that has infected the highly classified computer sytems that control military drones, U.S. military officials tell NBC News.

Flights of the remotely piloted armed aircraft continue worldwide.
Officials refused Saturday to provide any further details concerning what they know or don't know about the virus. They would not say whether they have any firm leads about who may be responsible responsible for planting it.

No one would or could say whether the virus is confined to those computers at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada, where pilots remotely control Predator and Reaper drones in places like Iraq and Afghanistan.

According to US officials, CIA drones that are flown over Pakistan, and most recently in the Hellfire missile strike that killed radical U.S.-born Muslim cleric Anwar al Awlaki in Yemen have not been infected by the virus.

Wired magazine reported Friday that the spyware has resisted efforts to remove it from the computers in the cockpits at Creech AFB.

The story said there are no confirmed reports that classified data was stolen and that the virus did not stop pilots from flying any of their missions.

Drones fly despite worries about computer virus

Below is an official statement attributed to the Air Force:

"We do not discuss specific vulnerabilities, threats, or responses to our computer networks, since that helps people looking to exploit or attack our systems to refine their approach. We invest a lot in protecting and monitoring our systems to counter threats and ensure security, which includes a comprehensive response to viruses, worms, and other malware we discover."

Oh, how I love ... Joe Biden

Great quote, big guy. Keep 'em coming ... "Look, no matter what the circumstance, at the end of the day, the American people right now are in real trouble," Biden continued. "An even larger percentage have stagnant wages. And a significant majority of the American people believe that the country is not moving in the right direction. That is never a good place to be going into re-election, whether it's your fault or not your fault. It's almost sometimes irrelevant." I bet Obama loves hearing the truth from the coolest cat on the planet. I really need to meet him.

Friday Picture of the Day

Can't wait ...

Until next baseball season when the Chicago White Sox, and manager Robin Ventura, face off against the Texas Rangers, and owner Nolan Ryan. See, back in the day, these two didn't get along very well. In fact, Nolan fought Robin when Ventura decided to charge the mound one evening. Personally, I'm just happy Ventura is gone from announcing college baseball games. It was like listening to a muppet ramble on and on about anything but baseball.

RIP Steve Jobs

I'm back ...

Apologies for the delays but I've been swamped in a sea of email that could kill anyone. Who knew that people didn't read the first line of the while Jed was out memo that stated ... don't cc me on emails. Oh well, nothing says tons of fun like 10 - 12 hours of reading emails of people saying, "thanks, super, great, ok, yes, no, keep in touch, peace, etc"

In other news, cruise was great.  I have lots of pictures and updates I'll share later but certainly looking forward to doing another cruise soon.  By far the most relaxing time I'm had since I mistaken a few Xanax for aspirin. Much more to come when I can get some time to ramble about it.

And finally ... congrats Pippen! Rumor has it the Shire is about to have a festival that will make Frodo and Bilbo Baggins jealous.

I'm back from vacation ...

... and until I have pictures downloaded, I'll save the stories.  Until then, this is all I have to say:
