Working between Christmas and New Years

This year, I'm one of about 15 people around the world working this week.  Here are some key takeaways from this week:
  • No traffic so I can sleep an extra hour ... woo hoo
  • No lines for lunch because only 15 people are working
  • I sat on a call earlier today with a guy named Darius and all I could do is think about Hootie the whole time
  • No meetings -- amazing ... actually had an entire day yesterday with out a meeting.  I thought I was going to cry tears of joy and happiness
  • There are a ton of treats in the kitchen that are completely killing the diet but are amazing
  • There is no one at the gym and what takes 90 minutes now only takes 60 ... yay for no people
  • I hear the malls are slammed, but since I'm at work, I can't go which means ... online shopping. Woo hoo.
Too bad today is my last day in the office this year. Something tells me January 3rd isn't going to be as much fun.

    More gems from the past

A few more things I found on my old iTunes ... wow ... that's all I can say.

The best part about House of Pain -- I was reading a comment about Jump Around on Youtube and it's priceless: "My girlfriend said jump around was shit, shes single now, joking shes dead."

    Who's got the hooch?

When this is stuck in your head later tonight ... think of me.

That's it ... I need Buddye the dog

This is awesome ... a puppy Christmas.  This is one of those things that if you don't smile or laugh, then you have no soul.

Cause I'm leaving, on a jet plane

Sometime in the near future, Retired Sorority Girl and I are headed to the big island that time forgot. Unforutnately, we aren't going to some secluded warm island (aka, Cuba - that trip is next week), but instead we are heading across the pond to enjoy a some time in Jolly Ole except this time we are venturing outside a trip to the Big Smoke, and enjoying a wedding in Manchester and Sheffield.

The best part about this trip will be managing Retired Sorority Girls' exceptions about the London she's seen in What A Girl Wants, Friends and in Love Actually. We've spent the last couple of days discussing what all to do in London and I'm pretty sure its going to be a tourist trip on steroids -- actually, change steroids to crack.

Watching her plan cracks me up b/c she has the optimism that we will be able to do everything from all the museums, Parliament, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar, Ride a Red Bus, Goto Harrods ... to Stonehenge, Oxford, Cambridge and Windsor Castle. I'm up for doing whatever, I'm just not as optimistic as she is about what we will get to do. And most importantly, she hasn't factored in the Pub / Pint factor ... that tends to slow down the trip a tad.

Regardless, it will be amazing to be back in my second home and seeing some wonderful people. Everyone should have a second home, even if it is expensive to visit and you only get to see it once (maybe twice) a year.  I can't explain enough how excited I am about my quick trip to Jolly Ole ... it's generally the most peaceful two weeks of the year.

    The new iTunes is amazing

Well, pretty much anything iTunes / Apples is amazing, but the new patch / upgrade is the best version ... EVR.  Ok, here's why its amazing:

    • It taps into every song you've purchased on iTunes even if you've lost songs
    • I've spent the last couple of hours listening to stuff that I downloaded in '04 and '05
    • It is now official ... I have terrible taste in music
    • At one point, I purchased Guster, Wilco, Jamie Cullum, Andrew W.K, Ryan Adams, Metallica and DMX in a 15 minute period.  That tells me that I was: A. In England, B. Drunk, C. Seriously Intoxicated, D. In a good mood. I compared it to the date in the blog and I went to a party at the BBC that night. Ahh, BBC parties ... oh how I miss those nights.
So just for fun, I thought I'd include a song I purchased in 2005 on this date: In God's Country by U2.  I must have been in England longing for the warm weather of the South in December.

    This is spot on
