They are not our friends ...

I've tried to stay unpolitical the last couple of weeks but thew news out of Pakistan is just too much to not say something. So we bombed an outpost and accidentally killed 24 soldiers.  Do you know how many of our own troops we've bombed of the last couple of years? A lot more than 24.

Most importantly, our troops were taking fire from either rebels, being harbored by Pakistan, or by Pakistani troops. So the special forces involved called in air strikes and the shooting stopped. In a striking development, the Pakistani government acknowledged today that they authorized the attack on their own troops and then announced that Pakistani troops have the right to shoot at NATO forces in the future.  Yeah, that's some really sound policy.

It's time that we acknowledge, bigger than just realize, that these people are not our friends, allies or even that terrible neighbor that you dislike. They've harbored Al Queda, Taliban and most importantly, Bin Laden.  They do not like us and we should stop sending them money (billions) or even acknowledging their existance.  Yeah, I understand their importance to the region and the supply likes into Afghanistan, but why don't we re look at that whole area and start funnelling money to our friends to the East of Paksitan. Last I looked (and so says the US census), there are a lot more people of Indian descent in the US than Pakistani. Plus, Curry is awesome and I couldn't even name a Pakistani food.

Tis the season

Yeah, the holidays are upon us and while I really do love the holidays, there are a 1,000 things that I greatly dislike that causes stress and issues with the holiday season.  Some include:
  • Holiday parties: Some are good, some are bad ... all will have alcohol which means there is potential for good as long as you have a driver. And I"m going to reiterate what I've shared in the past, European holiday parties are 1,000 times better
  • Long hours of work getting ready for 2012 which means lots of fun stress and meetings!
  • Crowds: I'm always amazed at how a crowd seems to break out everywhere during Chrismas and for some reason, I'm never at the front of the line
  • Traffic: same with the crowds -- everyone forgets how to drive during the month of December or drives way too slow
  • Family time: nothing says I love the holidays like endless hours in a car going from family to family to eat meals that you don't have room for and also tell the same story endless times ... then again, we have alcohol to keep us numb through all of these moments
  • Christmas Lights:  Why were they out in October? I've been meaning to mention this a while ago but seriously, why do you put out lights 90 days in advance?
  • Christmas Trees:  Actually, I love Christmas trees so no issues here
  • The Grinch: gotta love the Grinch -- he hates all the hub bub of Christmas but deep down, he really loves Christmas
Perhaps I'm the modern day Grinch ... could be? Or maybe I just want the holidays to be a peaceful, quiet time.  That's what I want for Christmas ... hey, Santa, get crackin!
